SUMMARY:Delve into DEI (Diversity\, Equity & Inclusion)
DESCRIPTION:We begin the new year at Delve into DEI with a discussion about how to have difficult conversations surrounding diversity\, equity and inclusion. This is always a sensitive topic and our hope is that you walk away with some thoughts on how to hear others\, empathize and work towards transformational change.\n\n\n\nOur conversation will revolve around a Dare to Lead with Bren Brown podcast\, which can be found here. If you have the time\, we encourage you to listen prior to our meet-up. We will specifically be focusing our discussion on minutes 12:00-13:30.\n\n\n\nDrinks and apps will be provided.\n\n \nMammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce Diversity\, Equity & Inclusion Statement\n\n\nDiversity includes all the ways in which people differ including psychological\, physical\, and social characteristics that make one individual or group different from another. Through diverse experiences and personal choice an individual can be tied to various groups.\n\n \n\nEquity is the assurance of fair treatment\, access\, opportunity\, and advancement of all people. The concept of equity is the awareness of systemic causes of disparities and\, more importantly\, the action to eliminate barriers that have prevented the full participation of some groups. \n\n \n\nBy being inclusive\, a welcoming environment establishes a sense of belonging and feeling valued within a group or structure. Inclusivity is respecting all people's unique perspectives.
