SUMMARY:Power Lunch: Getting a Good Night's Sleep: A "Mammoth" Issue
DESCRIPTION:Don't sleep on this one last year's Power Lunch filled up fast\, and we're bringing it back with a fun day that starts with skiing or riding and ends with great food at Parallax and an engaging presentation on sleep.\n\n\n\nBetween early powder days\, busy seasons\, and mountain living\, getting quality sleep can be a real "Mammoth" challenge. This Power Lunch hosted by Mammoth Hospital features Dr. Steve Kirtland sharing all about sleep and why so many of us could be running on empty.\n\n\n\nDr. Kirtland will review the basic tenets of "normal" sleep and the main disruptors that can interfere with rest\, along with the effects of inadequate sleep. Finally\, he'll also explore what good sleep hygiene looks like and discuss treatment options for a range of sleep disorders.\n\n\n\nKick off the morning on the slopes with our optional Chamber Ski Power Hour Plus\, or meet us directly at Parallax for lunch and the presentation.\n\n\n\nCome for skiing and lunch\, or just the Power Lunch either way\, you need to register to save your seat.\n\n\n\nRegister on the right side of this page for the POWER LUNCH \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nJoining Ski Power Hour Plus? There will be two optional time slots\, starting at 10am at Chair 3.\n\nPlease register separately by CLICKING THIS LINK so we know who's coming for the morning fun. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nImportant Note: Gondola access is reserved for Power Lunch attendees.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout Dr. Kirtland: Steve was born and raised in San Jose\, CA\, and earned a BS with honors in Zoology from UC Davis. After research at the National Institutes of Health\, he received his medical degree from UC San Diego. He completed his internal medicine residency and chief residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle\, followed by a pulmonary and critical care Fellowship at the University of Washington.\n\n \n\nAfter two years in private practice in Eugene\, Oregon\, he returned to Virginia Mason\, where he has practiced for 30 years. He has served as Medical Director of the Cancer Institute\, Critical Care Unit\, and Respiratory Care\, and as Chief of Staff for 12 years. He has also held leadership roles with the Washington Thoracic Society\, the American Thoracic Society\, and the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. He is board certified in Internal Medicine\, Pulmonary Medicine\, Critical Care Medicine\, Sleep Medicine\, and Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine\, with a clinical focus on interventional bronchoscopy and lung cancer.\n\n \n\nSteve and his wife\, Cindy\, recently retired Director of Spiritual Care at Virginia Mason\, enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle. They have two children and five grandchildren and will split their time between Seattle and Mammoth.
