Power Lunch: Forest Health for a Resilient Economy
Whitebark Institute brings us a Power Lunch focused on creating fire-conscious and resilient communities in the Eastern Sierra. Mammoth Lakes resides in the wildland-urban interface (WUI), meaning that our town shares borders with undeveloped land where high potential for wildland fire exists.
When we work together to “protect, prevent and prepare,” we can ensure the survivability of our landscapes upon which our economy relies. They will provide updates about the Eastern Sierra Climate & Communities Resilience Project, better known as the "Mammoth Donut Project", which is an effort to conduct fuels reduction treatments for ecological forest health restoration.
Partnering with Camp Like a Pro, they will outline outreach strategies to help educate our recreating and dispersed camping populations about wildfire prevention. Additionally, they will provide resources for how we as residents can begin to create wildfire-resilient homes by working from the home outward.
We encourage and invite questions to be sent in advance. For questions and any dietary restrictions email the Chamber at info@mammothlakeschamber.org.
