Caltrans and CA Dept. of Wildlife Biologists Katie Rodriguez and Dan Taylor, and Eastern Sierra Land Trust's Executive
Director/CEO Kay Ogden will provide a presentation about the research and planning of the Mammoth Lakes US 395
Wildlife Crossing Project. The project has received funding from the Wildlife Conservation Board to move forward with
the next phase. Katie and Dan will discuss the history of the project, the need for the project, and what is happening
with the project now. Kay will discuss how this Project aligns with California's 30X30 goals.
Katie Rodriguez is a Senior Biologist and Branch Chief of the Biology Unit for Caltrans District 9 in Bishop, CA. Katie has
worked for Caltrans for almost 7 years and during her time there has worked to incorporate wildlife connectivity into
transportation projects in the Eastern Sierra. Dan Taylor was recently hired in October 2023 as the California
Department of Fish and Wildlife unit biologist for Inyo and Mono Counties, CA. Dan has worked for CDFW for almost 9
years assisting with various research projects on a range of species including black bear, mountain lion, mule deer,
pronghorn, Sierra Nevada bighorn sheep, bobcat and greater sage-grouse. Kay Ogden was appointed to the position of
ESLT Executive Director in May 2013 after working as Associate Director for the Sierra Nevada Alliance. She brings great
passion for the Eastern Sierra landscape and experience in project management, strategic planning, fundraising, building
connections, and leading effective programs.
