DEFINITION: PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTOR I
$61,996 - $87,235 annually
Under direction, conduct and observe construction inspections related to grading, permits, subdivisions, landscaping, and capital improvements. Perform the inspections in support of Public Works Department’s Engineering division. Ensure projects conform to plans, specifications, and department standards, regulations and codes; and perform other related work as assigned; supports Community and Economic Development (“CED”) Department’s Code Compliance division and Mammoth Lakes Police Department (“MLPD”) as assigned. This is the journey-level classification in the Public Works Department. 

Supervision Received and Exercised
Receives general supervision from the Public Works Director/Town Engineer, or designee. Collaborates and provides oversight of maintenance services contracts and contract inspectors.

DEFINITION: SENIOR PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTOR
$72,697 - $102,292 annually
Under direction, lead, conduct and manage construction inspections related to grading, permits, subdivisions, landscaping, and capital improvements Perform the most complex inspections in support of Public Works Department’s Engineering division. Ensure projects conform to plans, specifications, and department standards, regulations and codes; and perform other related work as assigned; supports the Community and Economic Development (“CED”) Department’s Code Compliance division and Mammoth Lakes Police Department (“MLPD”) as needed.
This is the advanced, journey- level classification in the Public Works Department. The Senior Public Works Inspector is regularly assigned projects that are more complex and require a higher level of expertise than those generally assigned to Public Works Inspector I. This classification possesses the ability to operate autonomously to execute division goals and objectives, and coordinates and supervises projects being inspected by less experienced staff and/or contract inspectors.

Supervision Received and Exercised
Receives general supervision from the Public Works Director/Town Engineer, or designee. Exercises direct supervision over maintenance services contracts and contract inspectors, and exercises general supervision over less experienced Public Works staff with respect to permit review and field inspections, as assigned.
