About the Position
Access Mammoth is seeking qualified full-time and part-time Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Instructors for the 2026-27 winter season.
Adaptive Instructors teach a variety of adaptive snowsports lessons, support volunteer instructor development, and help create meaningful outdoor recreation experiences for athletes with disabilities. This is a fun, challenging, and rewarding opportunity for individuals who are passionate about skiing, snowboarding, inclusion, and making a difference in the lives of others.
The ideal candidate has experience teaching skiing and/or snowboarding and enjoys working with people of all abilities. While most instruction is conducted on alpine equipment, snowboard experience and certification are a plus. Candidates must be willing to complete a background check and SafeSport training.
Core Responsibilities
- Teach adaptive ski and snowboard lessons and facilitate outdoor recreation experiences.
- Support athletes with a wide range of abilities in achieving their recreational goals.
- Maintain adaptive equipment and ensure it remains in safe working condition.
- Assist with equipment and parts inventory management.
- Support lesson logistics, program operations, and multi-day camp preparation.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including lesson scheduling, volunteer coordination, athlete outreach, program planning, and office coverage.
- Partner with and mentor volunteer instructors when appropriate.
- Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for athletes, families, volunteers, and guests.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt instruction to individual athletes and guests.
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
- Flexible, patient, and positive approach to instruction and teamwork.
- Comfortable teaching alpine skiing at a variety of skill levels.
- Snowboard teaching experience and/or certification preferred.
Education & Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching skiing and/or snowboarding.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations and volunteers.
- Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
- PSIA/AASI Alpine, Adaptive, or Snowboard Level I certification or higher.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving passenger vehicles or trucks.
- Experience performing basic ski maintenance.
Applicants without PSIA/AASI certifications are encouraged to apply. Certification-based pay is available for active PSIA/AASI members.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a physically demanding winter environment in all weather conditions.
- Ability to remain active outdoors for up to 6 hours per day.
- Ability to safely lift and move up to 50 pounds while wearing winter gear.
- Ability to work comfortably in cold, snowy, and variable mountain conditions.

Compensation
Compensation is based on experience, certifications, and active PSIA/AASI status.
Base Pay Range: $20-$35/hour
Additional compensation opportunities may be available for:
- Multiple PSIA/AASI certifications
- Lead instructor responsibilities
- Educational Staff or Emeritus status
- Performance-based increases
